Yamaoka Kageyuki (山岡景之)

Kageyuki YAMAOKA was a military commander of the Sengoku period (period of warring states). He was the senior vassal of Rokkaku clan. He was the head of Yamaoka family which controlled Shiga County and Kurita County of south Omi Province for generations.

He was born as the son of Kagenari YAMAOKA. He served Ujitsuna ROKKAKU, resided in Seta-jo Castle and was called the leader of the south Omi because he had a strong influence there. He had many military successes as a vassal of the Rokkaku clan and established his status. After Kageyuki, his legitimate son Kagetaka YAMAOKA continued his bloodline.

The Yamaoka clan was the influential vassals of the Rokkaku clan and was in charge of military affairs as the military governor together with the Aochi clan and the Mabuchi clan.
